MSE National Basketball Camp Elite 5th Graders

Middle School Elite National Basketball Camp Elite 10 for the class of 2018

The MSE camp had its share of talented guards, forwards and big men for 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th grade.  Many players traveled from 50 states in America including Hawaii; the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Canada.

MSE 5th graders (No particular order)

T. Remington Minor – It was Texas Chain Saw Massacre in NYC.  Minor’s speed and quickness allowed him to slash the paint.  Anyone could tell you he’s the truth.  “I take this sport serious,” he said without smiling.  His focus on and off court was most impressive.

Marquise Walker – This youngster is highly advanced for his age and still has a lot to learn.  Walker currently holds the MSE national rankings #1 spot.  In showcasing, he pulled the rabbit out the hat and used  every trick in the book to keep position.

Rafael Jenkins –  One of the toughest players and biggest talks of the camp was Jenkins from Charlotte, North Carolina.  He’s an extremely crafty ball handler who dealt  with whatever the defense threw his way.  He enjoys distributing the pill and looks for his own shot opportunities.

Jordan Simmons – The shooting point guard from Illinois, Chicago plays a in-and-out game.  He either absorbs contact to finish strong in the red or puts defenders on their heels and rises for a mechanical jump shot.  He reminds us of a Russell Westbrook.

Kyler Kluge – His name is ringing bells across the country as a sharp shooter.  He has a quick release and knack for swishing nets.  He looks to immediately square up to the rim and flick his wrist.  Keep eyes on Kluge from Bloomfield,  Maryland.

El Khana Hidalgo –  The New Jersey native was one of the best players  in his division at camp.  He was aggressive and scrappy on defense.  We must say Hidalgo has a good offensive game.  He demonstrated a high basketball IQ last weekend.

Rychael Ellis –  Las Vegas wide body guard Ellis aka Macca didn’t waste any time attacking the paint and nailing treys.  He has an all around game with good upside.  Ellis was a standout player that caught scouts attention.  He’s a name to remember.

Jalen Hosea – He came from Chi-Town to make a name for himself and we were watching.  He handled the ball great especially under pressure and has a natural feel for the game.  He surveyed the floor and made sweet dimes to open teammates.

Lunden Taylor –  The new ‘Windy City’ face couldn’t chew bubble gum and tie shoes at the same time.  Now young Taylor has a decent NBA range three that he launches if given a hair length of space.  He plays tight defense and uses a triple threat stance, before dribbling.

Atiba Taylor – He’s capable of competing with the best of them.  The NY 2 guard went straight to work and did whatever he wanted on the court.  He has nice size on this level and great potential.

LOL, wow!!! what is the hate for because your son is not on the list. The list is in no particular order. There are no numbers next to the list. The funny thing is that you go all the way out to point out 1 kid and the team that he plays for. You must be a follower of the kid and the team Or your son must of got cut from the team and now you are bitter. Let it go there are other teams looking for players and if you keep working out your son maybe 1 day he can make the list also.

Settle down guys. You are BOTH right.

Max – I’m willing to bet that there were no more than 20 5th grade kids at this camp. You can only evaluate what you see. So a kid from your area that you are familiar with makes this list and you call foul based on what you know of the kid and his peer group. It’s an exposure camp and sites like MSE based their “rankings” on what they see and not what they hear. Want to see the list corrected? Send more kids to the exposure camps.

Balling101 – Really. Max made no mention of “his son”, so why did you? He noted that he KNEW the one kid on the list and based on his OBSERVATIONS, he found it more than odd/strange/whatever that the player could make a Top 10 list of “elite” 11U players. See my response to him above.

And for those of you soooo concerned over a 3rd/4th/5th grade ranking … true story:

I saw a player ranked Top 20 Class of 2018. And I actually knew the kid and based upon MY evaluation of the player, he wouldn’t be Top 20 in his home state less more Top 20 in the Nation, so I decided to go back and look at a piece of game footage that I had on him/his team from a year ago. Confirmed not Top 50 in the state. BUT, I also know that kids improve; so I went to see the player. Confirmed – STILL not Top 50 in the state. And yet he makes Top 20 in the Nation per MSE. Assessment: The player attended a MSE camp and was assessed against what was present. If 20 show, then they are ranked 1-20. Enough said.

Academics first and provided daylight remains, allow your 3rd grader to go outside and continue to work on his very, very, very, very young game!!

    • I have a kid in Edwards, Ms he is a second grader and is very very talented. What I will love to do is send you a tape and bring him to the camp to compete. Im sure and confident that he will be in your top 20. Somewhere in top 5 im sure

  6. Jim says:

None of those kids would make our 3rd place AAU 11U basketball team…….Basketball is being dominated by Texas teams.

  7. Uncle Duckie says:

WACG All-Stars 11U (2011 D1AAU National Champs) has 7 of the TOP 25. Real Talk!!!

  8. derek says:

Lets not pay to much attention to the rankings. I dont my son plays for the #1 11u team in ny ,nj and finish fourth in the country. #3 zedrek farrell or any of his teammates are ranked then you see the names and write ups of kids that dont have the same body of work as they do. Im not going to mention any names of kids because its not about them its about the people in charge of doing the rankings.maybe each coachs in the area should have a vote they no which kids are problems Let go Riverside Hawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12u

  9. It is really a nice and useful piece of information. I am satisfied that you shared this helpful info with us. Please keep us informed like this. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Reality says:

The fact that this list exists is insane. These kids are being doomed by their parents to lives of unattainable (in most cases) dreams. So sad. Being on this list will not get them jobs someday. So pathetic.
