MSE Maryland Mania Camp Rankings for Class of 2018

MSElite 8th Graders

The MSE Maryland Mania Basketball Camp was a top notch regional event. New and familiar faces in grades 2nd through 8th emerged as young budding athletes. We bring you exclusive write up’s on some of the standouts and top performers in the building.

Myles Dread Middle School Elite

We got a good look at 6’4″ shooting guard Myles Dread from MD, who was census the best player in the building. He has D1 college and maybe professional basketball, written all over him. He’s very tough and frankly, we don’t see him backing down from anyone. Dread absolutely showed off at the MSE Maryland Mania camp with consistent play in drills, regular games and the much anticipated MSE All-Star game. He filled the stat sheet in points, assist, rebounds and blocks. We can’t predict too far ahead, but we can say he’s elite as they come. Dread has less than 365 days until he plays high school varsity basketball and a few years before he chooses a university.

Rasheed Pierre Louis

Rasheed Pierre Louis of Maryland is 6’2″ and projects to be a high major division-1 player. If you leave him open he’s able knock down the open shot. He has good footwork and moves good without the ball. We’re curious to see how he competes against bigger and better competition. However, he’s a tough competitor amongst his peers and has a lot of upside. Remember the name.

Collin Bannister

Collin Bannister standing at 6’3″ definitely caught our eye, he has a nice size body and good skill set. He’s a well rounded player with athleticism. Bannister dominated the camp along with Myles Dread, Brandon Madison, Alexander Behzadi & Brandon Slater, whom play for the same Maryland based AAU program- Metro Sixers. A national powerhouse high school would appreciate Bannister on its roster.

Jordon Goodwin

Straight from Baltimore, 5’11” Jordan Goodwin came to play and was competitive both days a camp. He’s a scrappy guard with a knack for scoring the ball. He did a wonderful job running the fast break and making plays in transition. He has a nasty handle, good court vision and wonderful feel for the game. Keep an eye on this upcoming freshman point guard, as he splashes onto the high school scene.

Brandon Slater

Out of Virginia, 6’4″ Brandon Slater is wiry and athletic. Honestly, he was too much for opponents when attacking the basket. He was equally effective on the opposite end as he tried to swat every shot attempt. Keep in mind, he has long arms, which he uses to get a hand in the passing lane. Slater has a scorers mentality and a non-stop motor. Look for this special talent to make noise on the next level.

Benecio Quispe

Benecio Quispe is your typical feisty point guard, who can distribute and score the rock as well. He traveled from Springfield, VA to display a variety of skills such as ball handle, court vision, IQ, speed, scoring and ability to find open teammates. At 5’9″ he got in the teeth of defense and created easy shot opportunities. Look for this impressive floor general to lead a top team in the country.

Frank Evans

Although, Frank Evans is only 5’10”- he has a NBA demeanor and seems to relish the pro-talk. He spoke the language by absorbing contact in the lane to finish difficult off- balance layups. He has a quick first step and ability to make the floater in the lane. It was a ball meeting and watching Evans perform in his Maryland hometown. His confidence should take him far.

Christian Jones

Christian Jones from Maryland has a natural feel for the game, as if he’s the son of basketball coach. He too was a beast who did everything to show he was the best. With plenty heart and 5’8″ frame he impacted games in a major way. He has an uncanny sense of making shots with bodies drape over him. Now, since the world knows you, the rest is on you.

Brayden Gault6’3″ Brayden Gault from VA is a heck of a player who never took off a play. He’s very athletic and strong to the basket. He played with a lot of energy and intensity throughout the weekend. Many say he was one of the top 3 best player’s in attendance. A rebound and block here, a steal and shot there is what made him attractive. His future is bright moving forward.

brandon madisonClass of 2018, Brandon Madison is a 6’1″ specimen, who’s athletic with enormous bounce. He’s a skilled point guard having a pass first mentality; however, he can score the rock with the best. He has good court presence and deceptive moves to go along with a flashy ball handle. He came ready to play, knowing MSE Camp wasn’t a cakewalk nor commercial event. His name will definitely ring bells in years to come.

Elijah Epps

Elijah Epps is also from Baltimore and checks in weighing 165 pounds and 5’10” height. This B-More Star is everything a coach desires from his point guard. He has a consistent perimeter jumper and a yo-yo handle, he uses to get wherever on the floor. He had the crowd ooh and aah several plays. Look for Epps to make his high school debut soon.

  1. slater #4 tho …….. come onnnnnnnnnnn slater and dread or dread slater ….. wow mse #4?

  2. LOL says:

LOL. So the entire competition didn’t have one good big man or is their a bias.

  3. Middle School Elite says:

First of all, Marvin Bagley AZ. 6’9″ is the nations top player for class of 2018. Concerning a big man at regional camp, Myles Dread is the best 8th grader in Maryland, period. At camp, each grade consisted of the top players, regardless of position. The 8th grade division offered some surprises, but the younger age groups 4th, 5th & 6th grade along with 7th grade was crazy. Lastly, ten players at camp in grades 2nd thru 8th grade will receive college scholarships and two will play professional basketball. MSE did their job of identifying and exposing them. Good Luck LOL

    • stacy says:

marvin is not the no 1 player idiot u must been watching youtube videos

      • Middle School Elite says:

In middle school elite archives, Marvin is best player, and he’s documented on other sites as No.1 player as well. However he has high school ahead of him, and has to completely realize his position on the floor and steadily dominate games by winning. And every player on this site is focused young student athletes, which make them all #1.

  4. really? says:

MSE, do you have a crystal ball? How do you know that 10 players from your camp will get scholarships and 2 will go pro? Dread was definitely the best player there, but that’s probably the only one you got right. The only stand out 8th graders I remember were Dread, Gault, slater, Bannister, and Madison. That should be your top 5.

  5. Madison has been a beast in B-More for years now. Dread is tough, was a monster all weekend. Rumor floating around that the Metro Sixer have teamed with Team Takeover…

Who does Jordan Goodwin play AAU ball for.?!

Tyree Myers is ranked #11 but didn’t make the All-Star game.

  6. Just a question says:

This list is good. Alot of kids on this list are legit but why the exaggeration of height. Many on this list are no where near what they claim to be, even with shoes on.

Just a question. Can’t you be good just as you are? That’s why a lot of once these kids get in high school take measurements and post them v.s. relying on the the registration form.

  7. Who is... says:

Jordon Goodwin plays for the Baltimore Stars. He reclassed this year for the 8th grade.

  8. scout says:

To be honest Brandon Slater has the best potential on this list mark my words
