Middle School Hoops Captures Zion Harmon vs Jaden Springer

5th Grade Competition

MSEThere’s no actual comparison between professional basketball players and budding prodigies, but a young soldiers heart rules. High school athletes will compete for college scholarships in the midst of tactful AAU “handlers”, while reminiscing elite middle school match-ups.

John Lucas and Brian Merritt continued the competitive trend at the John Lucas All Star Weekend Tournament in New Orleans. Middle School Hoops caught video of jersey #3 crafty Zion Harmon (MD) of Team Glory and  jersey #11 man-child Jaden Springer (TN) of We All Can Go, where Springer won a 5th grade championship over Harmon who “was consistently double and triple teamed in the game but played very well.”

Today’s influx of young tough talent from everywhere assures a bright future for basketball. ZION HARMON & JADEN SPRINGER on MSE. Stay tune, the best is yet to come!

Was just surprised because Zion is a lightning rod in AAU circles. I come on this site for entertainment, I don’t care how good they are in elementary because it is still little boy basketball. I will wait to see what things look like with all kids when they are in HS, that is when it matters.

  8. Observer says:

Yeah I heard Kennedy was jumping ship! Guess he couldn’t lead a team himself. You cant do it so you run to a loaded team

How old is Jaden Springer? From the highlights it looked like he dominated Zion. He looks like a complete player.

Was suprised to see Zion play at a camp out here in cali and noticed him from all of the post on this site. He looks very skilled versus 5th graders. Now versus kids his own age, their size advantage gives him major problems. He isnt tall or super fast. He kind of just over powers younger players, but he wont be able to do that in a year or two.

I know im about to start a firestorm, and and it is within the rules to homeschool and hold your kids back but it is pointless to do such a thing for a kid who will only grow to be about 5’6. Basektball will always be about size and atletic ablility and no amount of holding someone back is going to change that.

I get why sites like these glorify players so young, their is a market for it and parents are willing to pay just for a chance to get their son some recognition.

Are you saying height matters? Lol. I say wait until high school and then you can see where they are. A lot of things can change between now and then.

  10. Well says:

Spinger is a true 6th grader but young enough to play down his dad is around 6’8 or so. True WACG is loaded majority of there kids are from NC which they got some of the best kids from NC don’t really see anybody beating them talent wise it may come down to coaching. I thought the Kennedy kid was playing with YBR… If you add him to WACG anybody can coach them and they will win

    • CaliHoops says:

@Well, I like the intensity/swagger Jaden plays with. Regadless of his age, you cant teach that. From the small video, he looks like he plays 1-5 as well. Will WACG be at Nationals?

    • eastcoast says:

      what is the age of a true 6th grader? 11, 12 ,13
some kids in 6 grade and turn 14 sep 1st lets them play down so whats real age of a 6th grader

  11. Observer says:

Jaden turned 11 in late Sept. His dad is 6’8 and two older brothers 6’9 and 6’7

  12. True says:

    Zion is 12

  13. Observer says:

Jaden turned 11 in late September. His dad is 6’8 and two older brothers 6’9 and 6’7

  14. Observer says:

Zion is 12 and will be 13 this year

    • loadofcrap says:

That is the age of a 7th grader. If that is true he will be 16 in 8th grade? Crazy! I know a lot of 12 year olds who would dominate 5th graders. No big deal…

  15. ballerallday says:

    test

  16. ballerallday says:

THATS A SHAME!! I SEE SEVERAL POSTS FROM THE PAST AND ONE POST SAYS ZION WAS BORN IN MARCH 2002 AND ANOTHER ONE STATES HE WAS BORN IN AUGUST OF 2001. IF 2001, HE IS TURNING 13, THATS TO DAM OLD!!!!! SO WE KNOW FOR A FACT HE DOESNT HAVE A BIRTHDAY FROM SEPTEMBER 1-DECEMBER 31. KIDS WITH THOSE BIRTHDAYS CAN ACTUALLY GO BACK TWICE, WHICH IS CRAZY. BUT ITS WHATEVER A PARENT FEELS WHATS BEST FOR THEIR CHILD. AS THESE KIDS GET OLDER THE TRUTH IS GOING TO COME OUT, BECUZ WHEN THEY TRY TO PLAY ON THE EYBL CIRCUIT, ADIDAS, UNDER ARMOUR, USA TEAM, ITS GOING TO COME OUT. IT HAPPENS TO SEVERAL KIDS EVERY YEAR. ALSO THEY WILL BE TO OLD TO PLAY IN THE MCDONALD GAME AS WELL.

  17. Team Glory says:

Zion is 11 and will be 12 tomorrow!!THX

    • loadofcrap says:
