5th Grade Khalil Brantley Is Best Point Guard

50 States

Khalil BrantleyThat’s how many people are checking out point guard, Khalil Brantley, (NC) via www.MiddleSchoolElite.com. We first saw Brantley at the Middle School Elite ATL camp in December of 2013 and he put on a brilliant show. Also, he was a valuable piece on the 5th grade MSE Team who won the P.A.T tournament in New York last May.

Brantley attacks the defense with vengeance, hoping to embarrass opponents, with highlight reel moves. He’s a pass first PG, who gets teammates involved and knows how to put the ball in the rim. He did exactly that at the Prime Time Super 60 in New Orleans last weekend. His 6th grade AAU team – Atlanta PlayMakers –  won the championship.

As Brantley prepares for middle school basketball, he copes with off the court issues like his mom who survived cancer. He’s the definition of struggle and a winner at heart. Brantley should make an immediate impact in high school as a freshman playing varsity, and he’ll be a joy to watch on the college level in almost eight years.

Stay tuned, Khalil Brantley mix – tape is coming soon.

  1. you forgot says:

You forgot to mention he is 12 and can’t play 5th grade this year but does anyway!

  2. Keep it real says:

@ You forgot….Well he is just like most of these so called studs….Zion Harmon, Jaden Springer, etc. Most of the ones hyped up are all holdbacks….

    • Alice Walker says:

Jaden Springer is 11 years old and is not a holdback. Anywhere you see him playing find his mother and she will show you his original birth certificate. Do your research before spreading lies.

  3. Keep it real says:

Kennedy Chandler, Seth Wilson, take your pick

  4. ATL Coach says:

There are enough good kids out there that are actually playing their age division to highlight. I really dont understand why you choose to post about grade exceptions and hold backs. It really dilutes the site and the process.

Also the ATL Playmakers won the second tier division in 6th grade. They were not gold champs. Please stop misleading people.

    • Middle School Elite says:

Thanks for pointing that out with distinction to the player.

      • ATL Coach says:

I only like to throw a name if I know with 100% certainty. In this post in regards to this player, Im 100% certain.

    • @ATL coach says:

You are correct it’s alot of great kids playing true age and grade level and their are a couple in ATL I have seen some play that can really go like on the Xclusive team haven’t seen them play since last year when I saw them in NC great looking team need to bring them ATL boys back to NC. Got the chance to see Brantly kid play this weekend he can really play he will be a force on this class starting next year!

  5. What says:

He was playing for WACG, I wonder what happened with that…not enough ball to go around between the Holdbacks and older players…Jaden, Kennedy, and him….

    • True says:

He was with WACG but is to old to play 5th grade this year and they couldn’t use him for States in NC his reclass paperwork came back to late so he can’t play with class of 2021 until next year on the AAU circuit. The current WACG team won’t last to long some parents are jealous of some of the players on that team since they boys can’t get the shine.

  6. Basketball Lover says:

Keep it Real, one of the studs you listed is not a holdback – Seth Wilson. I know him and his family very well. He is a fifth grader. Never been held back with an October birthday. He comes from a family of stud athletes with brains. He is 11 years old presently and will be throughout the entire AAU season.

    • ballerallday says:

@ KEEP IT REAL, I KNOW THAT FOR CERTAIN AS WELL AND I KNOW BOTH FAMILIES. BASKETBALL LOVER IS RIGHT, NOT ONLY SETH WILSON, KENNEDY CHANDLER, AND JADEN SPRINGER BIRTHDAYS ARE IN SEPTEMBER. THEY WILL BE 11 THROUGH THE AAU SEASON. NO HOLDBACKS. SETH WILSON, JADEN SPRINGER, AND KENNEDY CHANDLER ARE TRUE 5TH GRADERS. THOSE THREE STUDS DONT HAVE TO GO BACK A GRADE TO COMPETE, LIKE SOME KIDS. THATS WHAT MAKE THOSE 3 KIDS SO SPECIAL, TRUE BLUE, REAL DEAL,& NO HOLD BACKS. PLAYERS LIKE THAT WILL ALWAYS GET RESPECT.

  7. Real Talk says:

Jaden played 5th grade last year in NC…Played for the Rivals….He played D2… He was held back this year…Stop lying!!!!!! Kennedy Chandler was held back after 2nd Grade with Wildcats…..Zion Harmon—-everyone knows the deal with him…..Seth Wilson is also a holdback….You guys are full of it……They cannot get it done on their real level…..I KNOW THE BIZNESS ON ALL THESE SO CALLED AAU SUPERSTUDS!!!!!!!! DONT BELIEVE ME….GO CHECK IT OUT….I PROMISE I HAVE FACTS ON THESE CATS!!!

    • ballerallday says:

@ REAL TALK, YOU NEED TO STOP LYING!!!!!!! NONE OF THOSE KIDS ARE GRADE EXCEPTIONS NOR THEY HAVE BEEN BACK A GRADE. ONLY ZION. NEXT TIME YOU SEE THEIR PARENTS JUST ASKED THEM. BUT I THINK ITS A SHAME YOU FIND TIME TO BASH KIDS IN REFERENCE TO WHAT GRADE THEY IN!!!!! IM NOT A FAN OF GRADE EXCEPTION, BUT GUESS WHAT. THERE IS NOTHING YOU OR ME CAN DO ABOUT PARENTS PUTTING THEIR CHILD BACK IF THEY CHOOSE. THAT IS THEIR CHILD!!!!!!!!!!! END OF DISCUSSION!!!!!

      • Real Talk says:

@BALLERALLDAY…IT AINT END OF DISCUSSION…AS LONG AS YOU HAVE GRADE EXCEPTIONS…YOU WILL HAVE DISCUSSION….PERIOD!!!! PLAY YOUR AGE….BOTTOMLINE….STOP LOOKING FOR AN ADVANTAGE….

  8. Observer says:

@Real Talk–The lies you tell… Jaden Springer is 11 years, never held back, and is an honor student. Don’t be mad because he plays 5th and 6th grade. If you think he can’t compete in 6th grade and beyond ask around. He play with WACG 6th grade also. I spoke with his mother this past weekend when he played 6th grade with the USA team. Nice family, leave Springer alone he comes from a family of ballers google his father Gary Springer 6’7–brother Gary Springer Jr 6’9-brother Jordan Springer 6’7, Uncle Steve Burtt, and cousin DeAndre Bembry 6’6 St Joe’s 2014 A10 Rookie of the year. Google the whole family. Yes, he played with the Rivals his dad was the head coach he also played with the Havoc. Everything about this kid is legit. Now produce your facts.

  9. Real Talk says:

    @ Observer……http://www.ncaau.org/news_article/show/281016?referrer_id=434877

Click this link!!!! SO TELL ME AGAIN….DID HE PLAY 5TH GRADE LAST YEAR? LMAO!!! PROOF….AND LIKE I SAID HE DID NOT PLAY UP!!!!

    • Bystander says:

@Real Talk. So what he played 5th grade last year. Where is your proof that he will be 12 before Sept 1st. Kudos to the kid for playing up last year or any year.

  10. Observer says:

Another thing like Jaden’s mother said none these kids articles or videos have a college scholarship attached to them at this age. Her older boys and nephew went to D1 schools and she expect the same for Jaden and his 10 year old brother standing at 5’5. I’m glad I got to speak with her. I met her at Team Glory’s tournament last week watching Jaden do work playing 6th grade and doing the same thing he does 5th grade. I made sure we talked at the Rival Zone tournament. I wanted to know more about the kid they call the “Beast” which his family didn’t give him the nation did or as she told me his old coach from the Havoc did. Yes, I wanted to know where that name came from.

  11. Real Talk says:

OBSERVER, YOU NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS TOGETHER BEFORE YOU START JUMPING ON BANDWAGONS….LIKE I SAID…HE CAN PLAY…BUT HE WAS HELDBACK FOR WHATEVER REASON IS BEYOND ME….MAYBE TO HAVE A BETTER SHOWING BECAUSE AS A 6TH GRADER HE WOULD COMPETE AGAINST OLDER HOLDBACK…BUT FACT OF MATTER IS…..HE WAS HELDBACK!!!!

  12. Observer says:

@ Real Talk–What did I just say he played with the Rivals and the Havoc. What does that have to do with the fact you lied saying he was held back. Whether he play up or his age so what he’s legit. You are saying because he’s considered a stud he’s reclassed or too old. Get the facts before speading lies, period. Why are you on Jaden I’ve been around this kid on 4 separate occasions he’s one of the most humble kids I’ve met with his talent. Why not just support and be glad he’s not one of the reclassed kids or cheating. The kids he play with and against in 5th are older than him. On the 6th grade level they are 2 or 2 1/2 years older than him and even older with the cheating that go on. For the readers of this site please get to know this kid and his family when you see him in a gym.

  13. Real Talk says:

oBSERVER…HE GOT HELDBACK THIS YEAR….PERIOD!!!!!!!!! PROOF IS ON LINK…I KNOW HIS FAMILY TOO….HE WAS IN 5TH GRADE LAST YEAR…..ALL IM SAYING IS…STOP SAYING HE DIDN’T….BECAUSE HE DID!!!!

  14. Real Talk says:

OBSERVER,,,YES YOU SAID HE DID PLAY WITH THEM…BUT YOU FAILED TO MENTION….HE PLAYED 5TH GRADE LAST YEAR ON THE D2 CIRCUIT…THAT IS WHY NOONE HEARD OF HIM….

  15. Observer says:

@ Real Talk–He played D1 Havoc and D2 Rivals that’s common knowledge. He did NOT get held back this year. If he did show me the proof. I first heard of this kid 2 years ago and said he should be playing D1. I’m not sure what rock you’ve been under but a lot of people knew the Springer kid before the video and articles. His level of talent didn’t just fall out the sky. Lol… Name another true 11 year old that play like this kid. I’m just glad the nation is getting to see him. His mother also said he’s a work in progress and have a long ways to go everytime I told her he was a Beast. She said non of these boys are ready to go to the NBA so we need to stop acting like it. Real Talk get your life together and send me the proof he was held back. I know for a fact he wasn’t so until then I have no more to say.

  16. Real Talk says:

Observer…as stated….He was held back….You must be (etc) for the family…..It is common knowledge….he was in 5th grade last year…..PERIOD….ALL THE TALK WAS ABOUT ZION, SETH, ETC…AS STATED IN ARTICLES…HE JUST BURST ON SCENE…GET IT RIGHT FOOL!!!! HE WAS A D2 SENSATION AND HE IS PLAYING DOWN ON D1 TO GET IMMEDIATE SHINE….

  17. 11 says:

Not sure if he is 6th grade or not always thought he was but kid can play he could play last year just other teams used him in the post his dad and WACG allowed him to showcase his perimeter game. I heard was he 11 and can play down 5th grade but at the end of the day he dominated 6th grade all weekend as well not sure how he ranks in the 6th grade division but he should be in the discussion. And if he is a 5th grader he gets my vote for #1 overall.

  18. ATL Coach says:

Its just troubling. I was at the NO Super 60 and the amount of cheating going on was out of this world. One thing is for sure, it all catches up once they hit the 8th grade summer. either way I know a few true 5th graders in GA and FL that will give these boys a run. We’ve been playing in a lot of FL tournaments this year simply because it seems like they DO NOT play that grade exception or hold back stuff. Apparently coaches got together and agreed to not do it. I wish it was that way in GA, but we’re working on it.

  19. Charlotte coach says:

Khalil is reclassed this year so he will be ready for next year. Jaiden is in 6th but young enough to play 5th. Which is legal per any rules. Let kids be good man those are two tough kids and Khalil needed to reclass he also needs to focus on the student part of being an athlete. He has a lot going on at home

If you want to talk about 5th graders. Its a kid with the Jackson Lakers Elite name Devin. This kid is a true 5th grader.10 years old.He help lead his team in the super60 to the simi finals in the gold bracket.Word is; his father is thinking about holding him back because of all the cheating thats out here.Devin Carter, Jackson Laker Elite…

  22. Loadofcrap says:

You are all trying to figure out how to play down. The Best play up not down! You can have all the rules you want these kids are too old and not good enough. They are peaking at 12 years old. What a shame.
