5th Grader Angel Corona is California’s Big Man

Early Domination

image11-year-old, 6-0, Angel Corona from Sacramento, California, is an one-of-a-kind player. To compliment his unusual height at his age — he wearsa 13 size shoe. In January 2016, the mobile big man emerged as a top 3 camper at the MSE California Camp.  Since then, he’s elevated his game as a result of continuous hard work.

On offensive, Corona is routinely double teamed even before he touches the ball. Defenders have good reason to deny him. He’s a powerful, versatile post player with good footwork and soft hands. And he’s a tenacious defender.

In 2016, Corona was selected for the 2023 All-Star Game at Ryan Silver’s King of Kings Camp. “He scored in double digits and was active on the boards,” said a California scouting report. Furthermore, he had a spectacular showing at the Nike Gym Rats event in Portland, Oregon, and ACES Coca Cola Nationals in Los Angeles.

Corona helped lead RMG Elite to the 11-and-under Top Gun Spring Open title in San Diego, California. He earned All-Tournament honors with his strong play.

If Corona isn’t working to propel RMG to championships with some of his outstanding teammates, such as Rishod Brown and Jalen Newhouse, he moonlights on programs with Oakland PAL and Nightrydaz Elite. Make sure to watch Corona’s game a few times, and remember where you first read about him.
