Aliyah Juene Gauchos Top 8th Grader

Aliyah Jeune is the younger sister of outstanding 5’9 point guard, Ashli Jeune (Holy Cross High School), who plays AAU for the NY GAUCHOS.

Aliyah Jeune is 13 years old in 8th grade.  She’s a 5’11 guard with very good size.  She has fluid movements both with and without the ball.

Not the quickest guard on the floor but her combination of smarts, size and shooting make her a solid scoring threat.  At 5-foot-11 she may be the best in the country at this time.

Following in the tradition of the NJ guard Briyona Canty, Aliyah is a flashy scoring machine who can attack the basket from every angle.

She hits her defender with a quick move and shoots over them.  She is a volume  scorer, but she does it within the context of the game and still manages to keep her teammates involved.

Aliyah is also an Honor Roll student.

WoW! what an amazing young lady. I am so glad that she is also an honor roll student. That speak volume for her parents, because I know how hard it is to be a full time athlete and a student. Keep up the good work Aliyah Jeune, because a lot of people are watching you.

She is definitely an amazing young lady on & off the court. The Entire Jeune family is amazing, from older brother AJ Jeune(McDonald All American) to Ashli who led her HS Holy Cross to an amazing season. They are all gifted @ talented. They are a product of very loving & supportive parents who are very dedicated to their childrens success. Congrats to you too Kelly & Coach Jeune.

I saw her play at the all star game in New York City two months ago. Her skills and potential speak for themselves. I would compare her basketball skill and high basketball IQ to Maya Moore from UCONN. If one player was going to catch your eye quickly when you walked into the gym that day,it’s a safe bet that it would be this smooth 5’11 shooting guard. She plays at a controlled speed but has such good change of pace command that even if she’s not playing fast she’s playing effective. Very smooth player with a super easy jumper. She can knock down the three any where on the court, at times she even shot the ball from NBA range and She gets the shot off with little or no effort and it looks like it’s going in every time. She handle the ball, passes well and has a really nice mid-rang. She had 36 pts,10 rbs,7 blks and 3 stls that day. WOW!!!! AND SOME SAY THAT HER SISTER ASHLI JEUNE IS BETTER.

Its obvious that Aliyah and her sister Ashli are very talented if not among the MOST talented within their age group. I have played and trained with them and its eye-opening to see how high-level they are at such a young age. Aliyah makes her game look effortless. It seems like even when she doesn’t work hard, her game still looks great. People may say she belongs in the post as a 5’11 8th grader but her guard skills are better than most guards her age and even many guards years older than her. She has high basketball IQ and uses her length to her ability by blocking shots and getting deflections. Everything about her game is just smooth and natural. If she were on a wide open fastbreak, Aliyah would be the one to showcase a nice move before a layup or even a three and make a crowd go wild- she’s a risk-taker. Ashli’s game is more mature and she gets others involved easier, while making herself stand out with her great ball handling skills and ball control. She moves faster and gives full focus when she is playing, she shows alot of effort. In my opinion, she has better guard skill and ability, but Aliyah has more natural talent. Its a pleasure to be close with the Jeune parents because of their close bond and love for eachother, their children, and love for the game. They are definitly a family I love to be around and I cannot wait to see my girls grow throughout their highschool and college careers and beyond!

Strengths: A “true” shooting Guard with a great feel for the game. She’s a Charismatic player with the imagination and mindset to become a standout guard at the high school and college level , “she has a chance to be very special”… A facilitator who shows the ability to make those around her better … Great vision and passing skills … Great burst. Has the blow by speed to get past defenders off the dribble … Good decision maker. Looks to make the right play instead of always trying to dazzle … Doesn’t force shots or overdribble. Excellent shooter with the ability to get shots within the flow of the offense … Jumpshot has great form … she has range out to WNBA three and just needs time to gain consistency on it … Good one on one skills … Can pull up off the dribble … A strong finisher exhibiting good body control … Ambidextrous with the dribble, showing impressive ability to go to the left and finish with his off hand. She has excellent ball handling ability for a 5’11 and a nasty crossover … High motor girl who gets strong reviews for her character and work ethic. She Has a good wingspan and big hands which are obviously positive attributes … Very efficient shooter : 53% fg, 90% ft, 45% 3p … Solid defender with adequate size. Gets low, fundamental, doesn’t gamble too often. Plays the passing lanes well.

The older sister Ashli Jeune of Holy Cross High School, New Jersey, will be one of the bigger guards invited to the Nike Skills Camp this year and tryout for the USA U16 team. A break you down lead-guard with a nice cross – over and spin move off penetration; stop and go speed; can defend when forced to; gets in and out of traffic with the best of them; she a terrific prospect. She is nearing 5’10 and has a strong frame as well. She doesn’t jump out as super quick or fast, but in stretches she showed an explosive first step and got by some of the better on-ball defenders. She is a strong defender, both on the ball and off, while rebounding her position very well. The biggest question to her game is her 3-point shooting consistency. She will have a couple of hot streaks, but will probably have to prove that the 3 is a shot she can hit with ease. She is extremely talented guard but needs to improve her basketball I.Q. to match her ball handling and passing. She does create her own shot and understands how to attack defenders to create space. Ashli is versatile guard who has the potential to help out on the point on occasion. She can create off the dribble and makes good decisions. There is a mature aspect to Ashli game that allows her to be not only effective, but consistent as well. Ashli is physically strong with impressive speed, she’s a challenging match up for any defender. At the defensive end she can control opposing ballhandlers and limit their options to score.
