The Blackmon’s Hanging Out!

Saturday in early October, we caught up with coach James Blackmon Sr. and his two son’s, James Jr and Vijay at ‘Ruby Tuesdays’ diner.

They were in town for the John Lucas Midwest Invitational camp in Louisville, Kentucky. The boys completed their first day of drills/ games and spent the  remaining evening with friends & family.

Mr. Blackmon is the head coach at Bishop Luers high school in Indiana and he’s a former college standout at Kentucky University.

Recruit James Jr. is currently ranked #5 on ESPN and Hoop Scoop for the class of 2014. Only a freshman in high school, he verbally committed to Indiana University.

Vijay, (high IQ) 7th grade is nationally ranked #1 on Hoop Scoop and #3 on MSE. He’s a smart player, who makes great decisions offensively in pressured situations.

The Blackmon’s left ‘Ruby Tuesday’ with an entourage; we wished everyone good night and the boys a good day two at camp. Moments later, Coach Blackmon returned, sat next to us and started talking about basketball. It was a privilege to be in the presence of someone with his knowledge and background.

Stay tuned as we bring you more on coach Blackmon, James Jr., young Vijay and other top prospects at the John Lucas Midwest Camp 2010.
