MSE Players Dominate Top Teir Basketball Camps

Do These Names Ring a Bell? Justin Roberts, Jordan Simmons, Amari Sherrod, Dexter Shouse, Michael Saunders, Seth Wilson…

No.1 8th grader Justin Roberts at the MSE camp in Indiana as a 7th grader

Several MSE players received a high rank at the 2011 MSE NYC Camp and 2012 MSE Indiana Camp.  Recently, they attended either the Jr All-American Camp in Atlanta, GA., the Jr Phenom Camp in San Diego, CA. or the Hoop Scoop All-American Camp in Kentucky and based on their performance were ranked in the top five. Is MSE ahead of the curve in terms of indetifying the youngest and most talented hoopsters?

Eighth grader, Justin Roberts (IN) ranked No.1 at the 2012 MSE camp and rank No.1 at the Jr Phenom Camp.

Seventh grader, Marquise Brown (IL) rank No.1 at the 2012 MSE Camp and rank No.4 at the Jr Phenom Camp.

Seventh grader, Amari Sherrod (IN) rank No. 3 at the 2012 MSE Camp and rank No.2 at the Jr Phenom Camp.

Seventh grader, Jordan Simmons (IL) rank No. 4 at the 2011 MSE Camp and rank No.1 at the Jr all American Camp.

Sixth grader, Dexter Shouse (IN) rank No. 4 at the 2012 MSE Indiana camp and rank No.1 at Hoop Scoop All American Camp.

Fifth grader, Michael Saunders (IN) rank No.1 at the 2012 MSE camp and is to be considered the top point guard nationally.

Fourth grader, Seth Wilson (OH) rank No.1 at the 2011 & 2012 MSE camp and is obviously the best player for his class in the nation.

First of all, how could you possibly claim a kid was the best 10-year-old unless you had seen every single 10-year-old play (and if you have, don’t you have anything better to do with your time)? And what is the point of even trying to determine who the best 10-year-old is? Who does that benefit? What positive could possibly come of that?

Why would anyone want to burden a 10-year-old kid with the pressure of being “the best”? Or 12-year-old. Or 14-year-old for that matter? These are kids we are talking about!

Now, I am fine with naming All-American teams or even publicly ranking players right before their senior year in high school. But I believe in doing so as a way to recognize them for what they have already accomplished.

But even then it is a slippery slope as success is never guaranteed.

I was at this camp ..AND WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS…HOW IN THE WORLD JUSTIN ROBERTS IS RANKED THIS HIGH …HE WAS MISSING ALL THE SHOTS HE PUT UP EXCEPT THE UNCONTESTED ONES…AND U CAN LOOK AT HIM AND CLEARLY SEE HE’S PLAYING DOWN A GRADE….

    • please stop says:

Wow sounds like another jealous dad. I was at the camp. He got hacked everytime he went to the basket and thats says a lot when you have to get killed to be stopped. Also, I couldn’t count the steals on defense he had. Remember they had the 7th and 8th graders playing against one another. So how could it look like he played down? The kid is in his correct grade for his age. Dont hate because some kids are flat out better than others. If they put the time in the gym. Give them their props.
