Coach Neek Praises Sixth-Grade Standout
As a coach, you come across players who stand out because of their talent, and then there are players who stand out because of their work ethic, coachability, and love for the game. J’onni “Nana” Willhite is one of those special players.
Nana is a sixth grader at Portage West Middle School and a member of the United Pursuit family. Over the past year, I have watched her continue to grow into one of the top guards in Michigan’s Class of 2032. What makes her unique is her ability to impact the game in so many ways. She handles the basketball with confidence, sees the floor well, makes smart decisions, and competes every time she steps on the court.
The attention she is beginning to receive at both the regional and national levels is well deserved. Her game speaks for itself. She consistently works to improve her skills and embraces challenges against quality competition. More importantly, she remains humble and focused on getting better every day.
As her coach, I am proud of the progress she has made and excited about what the future holds. Nana has the talent, determination, and mindset to continue developing into one of the premier players in her class. While there is still a long journey ahead, she has already shown that she has the potential to make a significant impact on the game.
Keep an eye on J’onni Willhite. This is only the beginning.
