Young NYC PG with a Dream

Her Hoop City

At just 10 years old and entering the 6th grade this fall, Castle Athletics left-handed point guard Layla Peña (NY) is emerging as one of the game’s promising young floor generals. Known for her discipline, relentless work ethic, and team-first mentality, she is dedicated to improving every aspect of her game through countless hours of training.

Layla’s tight ball handling, advanced passing, and high basketball IQ allow her to control the pace of the game while creating scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. Her growing offensive arsenal includes a reliable three-point shot and a dependable right-handed floater, making her a difficult matchup.

What sets Layla apart is her approach to the game. She embraces coaching, competes with confidence, and plays with poise beyond her years. Her leadership, consistency, and commitment to team success have helped her win championships on the Hall of Fame court, at Atlantic City’s The Main Event, the East Coast Girls Nationals, and the NJ Spring Classic Select Event.

Layla’s goals are to become a McDonald’s All-American, earn a Division I basketball opportunity, and ultimately play in the WNBA. With a strong foundation built on hard work, character, and continuous improvement, she continues to prove that every achievement is simply another step toward an even bigger future.
